The use of pesticides in agriculture is quite common, and cannabis crops are no exception. In the cultivation of cannabis for human consumption, pesticides (mainly herbicides, acaricides, fungicides, and insecticides) are often routinely applied to repel and/or exterminate undesirable pests.
Plant growth regulators (PGRs) are chemical moieties that affect the rate of growth and/or maturation of plants through physiological action.
Despite the agricultural benefits from the use of pesticides and PGR, several issues surrounding their use have been concerning; in particular environmental contamination, impacts on ecological systems, and effects on human health. To this end, much attention has been focused on improving the analysis of pesticides at ultra-trace levels with high accuracy and specificity to ensure the safety of cannabis products.
